United Way Blackhawk Region kicked off its annual community campaign at an event on Wednesday, September 13 at the Eclipse Center in Beloit. The breakfast was attended by 385 United Way supporters, corporate partners, and Day of Caring volunteers.
United Way is asking nonprofit agencies, service clubs, public schools, municipalities, and service organizations to please consider submitting project(s) so we may afford the hundreds of volunteers who participate in this one-day event a meaningful experience.
At the breakfast kickoff, President & CEO of United Way Blackhawk Region Mary Fanning-Penny reflected on the 10th anniversary of the unification of the former Stateline United Way and United Way of North Rock County. “The respective boards of each envisioned a unification that could more efficiently serve the needs of our vulnerable neighbors. With the support of corporate partners, loyal donors, and nonprofits alike, the vision became the reality that continues to serve us today.”
“Nonprofits that host Day of Caring projects seize an exciting opportunity to educate and inspire new volunteers about their mission, while having important work completed for their agency that they may not have otherwise been able to afford,” said Fanning-Penny. “Volunteers take pride in the work they accomplish, better understand the needs of our neighbors, as well as the critical role of nonprofits. It’s truly a win-win.”
