United Way Blackhawk Region would like to invite you to participate in our annual Day of Caring on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. This is an opportunity to answer United Way’s call to action: GIVE, ADVOCATE, VOLUNTEER, LIVE UNITED.
Day of Caring exemplifies Living United as business partners form volunteer teams which are assigned projects at local nonprofits in the Blackhawk Region. These Day of Caring projects would not normally be completed due to a nonprofit’s lack of financial resources or manpower. Examples of past projects include cleaning and painting at a local free dental clinic, doing activities with adults with developmental disabilities, weeding, landscaping, even delivering flowers to our home-bound neighbors. There are just too many projects to list them all, and the possibilities are endless! Any nonprofit organization may submit a Day of Caring project, and is not required to be a United Way Funded Partner to participate. With volunteer participation increasing steadily every year, we warmly welcome additional projects to ensure a meaningful experience for hundreds of local volunteers.
Last year, 895 volunteers from 43 local companies completed 100 community projects for 42 nonprofit agencies. This represented more than $160,956 worth of labor.
Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work! Our community is grateful for your support.
